Teens across the U.S. are not the only ones picking up on the message of "16 @ War," the debut single by Karina, New York City's newest 16-year old star. A timely song of independence and admiration, it was written and produced by fellow Def Jam label mates The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, the same duo responsible for Rihanna's "Umbrella" and Madonna's "Me Against the Music." Raised up in the Dominican neighborhood of Washington Heights, and a music and vocal student at world renown PPAS (Professional Performing Arts School) in Hell's Kitchen. Since kindergarten, Karina has been singing and playing piano at the Special Music School situated in Lincoln center and graduated after 9 years with a pre-conservatory music degree. In addition she has been privately coached and trained in classical and modern piano by Dr. Burkhom Buriev from Russia, and renowned American jazz pianist George Caldwell.

Nor did it hurt to have Grammy Living Legends industry heavyweight Quincy Jones supporting her. "I know I'm blessed to have someone like Quincy in my corner," she says. In addition to giving her advice, Quincy included Karina in the "We Are the Future" charity concert in 2006. She is also proud of becoming the first Dominican ever to perform at the White House, when she sang "Misty" as part of a concert organized by another family friend, Emilio Estefan of Miami Sound Machine, during Black Music Month last June 2007.

Emilíana Torrini Davíesdóttir (born May 16, 1977) is an Icelandic singer, best known for her 1999 album Love in the Time of Science and for performing "Gollum's Song", for the end credits of Peter Jackson's film The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

Me And Armini is a hugely ambitious and aspirational pop record with Emiliana’s soaring voice centre stage, bolstered by a rich gamut of musical styles. From the summery skank of the title track to the surging, breathless “Jungle Drum” and the yearning “Big Jumps” and much more in between, Me And Armini is a truly fantastic album. Emiliana Torrini is half Icelandic, half Italian. Her teen summers were spent in Germany with her Italian uncle. Her worldwide debut album, 1999’s Love In The Time Of Science, was produced by Roland Orzabal of Tears For Fears and was a gorgeous electronic trip-hop influenced album. Her second album, Fisherman’s Woman was a little closer to Nick and included the song “Honeymoon Child“ written by Smog’s Bill Callahan, who Emiliana spent some time writing with in the US. Fisherman’s Woman’s theme was loss C sometimes dripping with sadness but more frequently imbued with almost magical optimism.

Me and Armini will be released by Rough Trade in the US on September 9th, and marks another new chapter in Emiliana’s impressive career.

　　“南搞小孩”要玩音乐一直到老，专辑封面拍摄概念是南拳妈妈现在年轻的样子，封底是南拳妈妈脸变老，但是打扮却依然很时尚、摇滚，象征“音乐不老”，人会因为时间而老去，但是音乐却是越来越新鲜，这就是南拳妈妈爱玩的作风！拍摄专辑当天最让四人兴奋的就是画老妆，很期待自己变老的会是什么样子；张杰是画最快也最像老人的，他画完后觉得超好玩，心想：“这会是以后的自己吗？”也觉得自己最老；而Lara和宇豪两个是最难画的，因为Lara眼睛大，眼神又清澈，本来设定的感觉是水果奶奶那种慈祥的奶奶，但是Lara实在长得太可爱，根本不像老人，最后要把眼睛贴小，把盘发放下来，眼神放空，才达到摄影师要的那种酷酷老人的感觉；宇豪则是长得娃娃脸，也很难像老人，最后也是贴眼睛才成功，Lara笑说男生是越老越好看，而弹头的老妆落差最大，因为戴了老花眼镜的他，看起来历尽沧桑心事重重，果然很有男人成熟的魅力！

　　这张专辑的主打歌“再见小时候”，是在专辑选歌时，宇豪一直想应该要写什么样的歌给四个人合唱，他想到第一张专辑的第一个主打歌，唱的是“小时候”，现在该是说“再见”的时候了，也代表自己长大了；因为唱片合约告一段落，未来新的音乐之路与发展还有好多发展与可能，所有怀念的、复杂的心情都写在歌里；这首歌是南拳妈妈特有的温暖曲风，歌词一开始就以“翻开旧相簿”自然坦白的心情铺陈回忆：“童年糖果罐已经快溶化完 缤纷的气球 在骊歌中飘散 我们就这样紧紧 牵起了勇敢”，“再见了小时候 懵懂的我 现在的梦已经成熟”，除了提到童年，还有亲情、初恋滋味，挥别过去的自己，也提醒现在的自己，拥有这些回忆心情，未来一定可以更勇敢往前，追求自己的梦！

　　“下雨天”是由Lara梁心颐填词演唱、张杰作曲的抒情摇滚。张杰当初写这首歌给Lara唱时，就觉得Lara的声音除了甜美之外，其实是很有爆发力的，所以他想在旋律上的音域拉大，在编曲的铺陈上，更是从开始简单的钢琴，慢慢加入电吉他、鼓等配器，去烘托Lara唱到副歌时完全飙高爆发的嗓音，让 Lara的声音表情可以全力发挥，情绪更是随着歌曲高涨；Lara也觉得说，其实她当初还没发片时，唱歌的方式是很冲的，高音很尖锐，有些歌这样唱让人压力大，所以她后来都调整成比较甜美可爱的方式演唱，这次唱这首“下雨天”，真的很难唱，因为情绪的起伏很大，尤其是副歌，在声音与情绪的收与放，都是挑战，但是唱完真的很过瘾！张杰也是在Lara唱完后，发现Lara的Vocal实在太有power，又加入了弦乐与和声，让后段的副歌更浓烈更有画面。

　　而这首歌词，Lara以浅白的字句深刻的写出爱情里的不对等；她说下雨的画面是张杰在DEMO里第一句就是唱：“下雨了 怎么办我好想你”，她开始想像，一个女生刚下班，手里提满公事包和袋子，站在路边等车，突然一阵大雨落下，手忙脚乱地撑伞，狼狈不堪，却不敢打电话给男友，因为怕打扰他、怕他没接电话…。恋爱的心情总有一方是被动的被爱，被动的接受所有，而另一方则是一直等待，不断付出，“爱上你我总在学会寂寞的滋味 一个人撑伞 一个人擦泪一个人好累”，恋爱有时候是孤单的，因为总是等不到对方的回应，对方的理所当然，却可能是另一方的无止尽的付出“怎样的雨 怎样的夜 怎样的我能让你更想念 雨要多大 天要多黑才能够有你的体贴”；而Lara最喜欢自己的写的一句歌词是：“被爱的人不用道歉”，因为给爱的人只要被爱的人给一点点回应，就很满足了，被爱的人根本不需要道歉，不需要跟给爱的人道歉，只需要给他一个温暖的拥抱或是体贴的问候，一切的等待与付出，都值得了。

　　“你不像她”是由周杰伦作曲，弹头填词和宇豪主唱的R＆B情歌，歌词描述“我爱你但你爱他”的沉痛，“难道爱情本来就该傻”的无奈，“走完回忆的尽头 爱还在源头 枫叶落尽了秋末落不尽我的等候”，充满诗意却哀伤的画面，也是南拳妈妈演唱过的情歌里，比较成熟思考爱情的三角问题与受伤心情的歌；而这首歌曲由宇豪编曲，也做了特别的尝试，歌曲曲风带着韩国风R&B的感觉，从车子发动引擎声开始前奏，就充满画面，忧郁的曲调依直延续到副歌，充满流动感的旋律，很有杰伦的抒情歌味道；但是到了间奏突然加速节奏，宇豪特别加入一段变奏的舞曲，然后再回到主旋律；问他为何如此编，他说因为他自从上次在渔人码头演唱会，在闇奏那首歌里突然加入一段舞蹈的创意，这次他想在情歌里也加入一段，可以转换不同的音乐画面，到时候拍MV时也可以加入一段自己的舞蹈表演；而这首歌曲的MV也是由杰伦亲自导演，弹头在MV里更是超越尺度演出“床戏”！两人对于自己有不同的“转大人”挑战，除了在歌声的成熟演绎之外，更在舞蹈与戏剧演出上更上一层，请大家拭目以待啰！

　　“泪妆”由张杰作曲演唱，方文山填词，描述一个好朋友位置的男生，体贴女生的恋爱心情，安慰女生为另一位男生流的眼泪；歌曲一开始是渐强的时钟滴答声，伴随着路上的车流声、喇叭声，营造出歌词一开场描述的，“看着你一整个晚上为了他细心的打扮 还残忍问我 穿那件衣服可以比较讨他的喜欢”，张杰以一种压抑内敛的嗓音唱着，格外引人心疼这个以好朋友的位置傻傻爱着对方的男生，“泪溶化了妆 是他给的伤我却只能在一旁 很无助的看 好朋友模样 用来隐藏 对你的情感 连大声爱我都不敢想”，歌词从描述场景到内在心里的挣扎、痛苦，节奏也随着一步一步逼近，压迫着胸口，隐隐作痛；张杰说这首歌是他觉得在演唱的情绪表达上进步很多的歌曲，他希望以一种很内敛的方式演唱这种抒情摇滚，但是内在释放出的力量与悲伤却更是强大，而方文山的词更给了这首歌曲一个故事情节与画面心情，将这首听起来灰灰的情歌，更添加了忧郁的蓝色。
