Simplicity, Usability, Elegance, all his works show his chasing of these and for me, I never get tired to use his Visual Style for daily choice.  Better than this, he released this skin as a "Open Source" project, all the souce files including PSDs can be aquired here

We use icons everyday, obviously decent applications and websites needs decent icons.  GUI is not only about good looking and eye candy, in most of cases we have to treat them carefully in the design process while tackling the creativity and usability, I think that's why it's so hard to be a icon master.  But in this article, I listed 20 greatest Icon Studios, their designers have set the model of us and presented different styles with high qualities.

Iconfactory

As a professional Icon Studio evolved for more than 10 years ago, Iconfactory has a extremely impressive portfolio, everyone of us can touch their creative minds and efforts through Windows XP and Vista icon system.  In the mean time, the greatest thing is as a company has hundreds of big clients like Microsoft and Autodesk, they still keep the tradition that constantly provide freebies like wallpapers and icons for users.  Also, their various stock icons are still the best over the internet!

Iconka

I was very excited when watching the icon drawing process video recorded by iconka, and that's why I did my own icon making process video.  As you can see, I could hardly treat details and colors that accurate like iconka did.  Enjoy their video tutorial and portfolio, you will see how professional they are and rich details are totally the spirits of iconka works.

Yellow Icons

Founded by Everaldo, yellowicon is quite qualified as the pioneer of crystal icon style.  Check out their strong portfolio and stock icons, there are millions of icons with decent gloss treatments, if you're looking for sleekness, they are exactly what you need!

Enhanced Labs

Being a skin & icon designer myself, I know exactly how difficult to design a whole set of small icons, especially when the size is 16px by 16px or even smaller.  Using proper metaphors, reducing unnecessary details and strengthening the shapes to get better impact & recognition are the some solutions.  And in my view, designers from Enhanced Labs are holy experienced in creating these tiny icons, they nicely outputted the icon system for Microsoft Office 2008: Mac, which is always a perfect standard for us iconists.

Icoeye

Are you moved when looking at their icons?  Yes, I was!  Vivid colors, smooth shade, interesting ideas and even some of them are animated!  If you agree everyone likes cuties then everybody likes Icoeye!

HYBRIDWORKS

We definitly can't miss this, HYBRIDWORKS concentrates on desktop goodies for years and they have very unique style that is hard to be copied.  They made icons detailed like illustrations and they actually make beautiful illustrations!  BTW, they have a quite fascinating website, flash based and fully customizable.

Fasticon

Just as Iconfactory did, Fasticon has produced dozens of free icon sets for users to download, but after gained much reputations, freebies seem to be not the central of their business in their latest website update.

IconDrawer

The only reason I don't put Icondrawer at the top of the list is that I haven't seen any of their complete icon sets, besides, they are really really my favourite!  Both tiny and normal size, their works totally set the highest standard of what an iconist could ever fulfill.

milkworks

Another japanese studio provide web & icon design services.  Icons below are done in old style but don't forget to visit milkworks gallery, they have so many decent works done with up-to-date skills.

Turbomilk

Established in 2002, the russian studio Turbomilk have so many good looking icons done in their gallery and the journals and tutorials on their blog are truely worth reading.

成为搜狐博客开放平台模板设计伙伴，是搜狐博客推出的最新的合作计划，将会为广大合作伙伴带来巨大的利益分成，共同分享几十万博客用户使用的收费模板产生的高额回报，这将是一次难得的商业合作机会。

二、大赛组织机构

三、参赛作品设计要求

   1. 参赛作品形式：博客模板设计；
   2. 大赛主题：
          * 搜狐博客开放平台博客模板设计征集；
          * 博客模板最终是面向整个搜狐博客使用人群；
          * 在博客模板设计上要体现“个性和设计”的特性，作品题材不限，自由发挥；
   3. 所有参赛作品必须是参赛者的原创图形作品，基本设计可以使用素材图片，严禁抄袭、剽窃他人作品，否则将被取消参赛资格，组委会不承担相关责任；
   4. 报名参赛须按要求分别提供图形文件及作品说明。

四、参赛资格

   1. 在职设计师、设计类相关专业在校学生和设计爱好者均可报名参赛；
   2. 参赛者需对网页模板设计有自己的理解，有强烈的设计欲望和丰富的灵感。

五、参赛办法

   1. 本次大赛采取免费报名及网络提交作品的方式；
   2. 报名及作品提交地址：搜狐博客开放平台（http://ow.blog.sohu.com/index_match.html）；
   3. 所有参赛人员请先注册成为搜狐博客用户才能参加大赛，正式在线提交参赛作品，签署著作权承诺函；
   4. 作品提交规范：
          * 参赛作品必须基于搜狐blog标准进行创作；
          * 参赛者提交作品数量不限，所有参赛作品须按要求上传“展示缩略图”及相关作品说明；
          * 上传“展示缩略图”的文件格式：RGB模式的JPG、GIF图形文件，禁止使用CMYK格式的图形文件；
          * 参赛者务必保留“参赛稿”的原始设计稿，以便参赛作品入围后向大赛组委会提交，原始设计稿的文件格式只能为PSD文件格式。
   5. 参赛作品初审入围后，大赛组委会将以电话及EMAIL形式分别通知入围作品的参赛选手。入围作品的参赛选手在接到入围通知后，须按指定方式和时间上传入围作品的源文件，否则视为主动弃权，放弃最后各项奖项的评选。

七、评委

   1. 本次大赛的评审过程分为：初审和终审两个环节，因此大赛评委会将由初审评委和终审评委组成；
   2. 初审由大赛组委会评选进行。
   3. 终审评委名单如下：

八、评选原则

   1. 模板设计在内容上要求体现搜狐模板的特点；
   2. 模板设计要求具有艺术设计美感、兼容性好，符合搜狐博客的设计要求。

九、评选流程

   1. 作品提交搜狐博客开放平台展示后，由大赛组委会评选，进行初审；
   2. 通过初审评选出50件入围作品；
   3. 组委会将以电话及Email的形式通知入围作品的作者，要求入围作品的作者在规定日期内，按指定方式提交参赛作品的源文件。未按要求提交入围作品源文件的参赛者，视为自动弃权；
   4. 由终审评委对入围作品进行综合评审，评选出本次大赛的各项奖项；
   5. 本次大赛的评委会拥有对所有获奖作品的最终裁定权。

十、比赛日程

    * 投稿日期：
      2008年10月30日至2008年11月30日中午12:00（以网站系统时间为准）
    * 初审时间：2008年11月30日至2008年12月8日
    * 初审结果公布时间：2008年12月8日
    * 通知入围作品参赛者提交作品源文件：2008年12月8日至2008年12月16日
    * 终审时间：2008年12月16日至2008年12月22日
    * 最终结果公布时间：2008年12月22日
    * 颁奖时间：2008年12月22日

十一、参赛注意事项

1、定义：
若非特别指出，本规则中：组委会指承办“搜狐博客开放平台博客模板设计大赛”的组委会。
参赛者是指报名参加本届设计大赛并按照参赛程序将参赛作品提交大赛组委会的个人。参赛者在报名时应当提供真实的个人资料，个人资料失实将会失去其作品获奖机会，并且参赛者须承担相关法律责任。
作品是指参赛者创作的模板设计，不论是否入围，参赛者均依照《中华人民共和国著作权法》享有署名权。
2、参赛须知
(1)参赛者必须保证作品的原创性，不得抄袭、剽窃他人作品，不得侵犯任何第三方的知识产权或其他权利。参赛者同意对任何违反前述规定所造成的第三方索赔负全部责任，并保证组委会不受任何损失。
(2)为利于作品评选，大赛期间，参赛者不得再将该作品用于其他赛事，否则大赛组委会有权取消其参赛资格，由此产生的任何责任由行为人本人自行承担。
(3)参赛者须遵守中华人民共和国的有关法律，大赛组委会不接受依法禁止出版、传播或者含有下列内容之一的作品：
a、反对宪法所确定的基本原则的；
b、危害国家安全，泄露国家秘密，颠覆国家政权，破坏国家统一的；
c、损害国家荣誉和利益的；
d、煽动民族仇恨、民族歧视，破坏民族团结的；
e、破坏国家宗教政策，宣扬邪教和封建迷信的；
f、散布谣言，扰乱社会秩序，破坏社会稳定的；
g、散布淫秽、色情、赌博、暴力、凶杀、恐怖或者教唆犯罪的；
h、侮辱或者诽谤他人，侵害他人合法权益的；
i、含有法律、行政法规禁止的其他内容的。
(4) 大赛组委会对参赛者的剽窃、抄袭行为不承担法律责任。一经发现，大赛组委会有权立即取消赛资格，并要求返还奖品或奖金，同时保留对随后可能产生的损害进行追偿的权利。同时，大赛组委会对他人侵犯参赛者权利的行为不承担法律责任。侵权的法律责任概由剽窃、抄袭者本人承担。
(5)参赛作品原则上不予退还，请参赛者自行保存底稿。
3、知识产权归属
对于参赛作品的知识产权（包括但不限于著作权、专利申请权等），组委会与参赛者约定，对于所有参赛作品，组委会享有如下权利，其他知识产权归参赛者本人所有：
(1)组委会享有作品的发表权、展览权和信息网络传播权，有权保持完整作品或部分作品在媒体上宣传、展示之用；
(2)大赛期间，对于评审需要等合理目的，组委会有权对作品进行少量复制；
(3)对于所有获奖作品，搜狐网享有包括但不限于参赛作品的所有权、使用权、修改权，参赛者享有署名权；
4、在法律允许的范围内，大赛组委会对本次大赛享有最终解释权。

十二、争议

对本规则、参赛表格及著作权承诺函产生的任何疑义，大赛组委会保留最终解释权。与本次大赛有关的任何未尽事宜，均由大赛组委会进一步制定规则并进行解释。
